Podcast 129: Listen All Y'all It's a Sabo-phage

Okay so just in time for Festivus, this is the first slew of "forgotten" Voyager episodes. That probably means we didn't have too much fun with these, right? RIGHT?! Well, when have Nazis turned down fun, though? But here's the real question. Will disease, loneliness and dinosaur scientists live up to the fun that the Nazis set such a very high standard for?

Podcast breakdown:

0:00 -- nuqneH (Christmas, Christmas movies, egg nog)
10:24 -- "Phage"
32:10 -- "Distant Origin"
52:10 -- "The Killing Game"
1.24:28 -- "One"
1.39:39 -- Awards and rankings

Podcast 128: Revenge is a Dish Best Served Old

For the first time in months, were back with a normal podcast. This isn't our last Voyager podcast, but we're discussing the last Voyager episode (in which Voyager limps its way across the finish line. Does the series live up to its hype? Okay, here's a better question: does the series live up to the constant stream of dislike our listeners have been throwing at us? Also, which one of the other two is the "bad" episode -- "Fury" or "The Void"?

Podcast breakdown:

0:00 -- nuqneH (Halloween, podcasting)
11:08   -- Viewer mail
31:45 -- "Fury"
1.02:10 -- "The Void"
1.19:29 -- "Endgame (Parts 1 and 2)"
1.58:41 -- Awards and rankings
2.08:50 -- Future episode predictions
*2.16:13 -- Qapla' and outtakes

Podcast 127: Gorgeous Eyes Under There? Under Where?

It took us a few weeks to finally do it, but here it is -- the DVD commentary of Star Trek Into Darkness. The giddiness of the movie has worn off slightly, so a bit of criticism is expected. Interestingly, the two of us tend to disagree a bit more on these movie things, but the inevitable yelling match has yet to be recorded.

BTW, Jon's voice is a bit louder than J.R.'s. Hopefully that's not too annoying. If it is, let us know and we'll painstakingly adjust the levels of every single conversation.

Details of how to sync the movie with our voices is included in the mp3, BUT as a super bonus, know that the beginning of the movie starts right at the 2:00 mark.

Podcast 126: Scare Haven

We start by talking about what Depeche Mode might play for their encore at the upcoming show. Don't be a saint and email in the setlist. Yes, we're well aware of the internet, but prefer not to know certain things until the actual time. No spoilers!

So yeah, we watched these latest Voyager episodes sort of unsure which ones were "good" and which ones were "bad." That's kind of a recurring theme. This lot was strangely not boring for having relatively few stakes. This time we get Coma Tuvok, Barclay anxieties à la TNG, shore leave gone not so surprisingly gladiatorially wrong and fritzy holodeck... again. Interestingly one bonus to not watching all of Voyager is missing out on the context of Fair Haven. J.R. blames this on the surprising reaction to the episode.

Notice: All uses of the R-word were from listeners, not podcast hosts and sub-hosts.

Podcast breakdown:

0:00 -- nuqneH (Depeche Mode, BYU football, Breaking Bad, Shatner at Salt Lake Comic Con)
16:25 -- Viewer mail

Podcast 125: Retrogray

J.R. was tickled pink by the retro-futuristic fun of "Bride of Chaotica!" and the episodes in general were probably better than last time, but viewing these suckers makes it easy to see why Voyager really is the detritus of Star Trek. Boxing is never good on TV, but space boxing? Well, that tends to be even worse, isn't it? Hey, at least some more Starfleet types came along, but did they erase, or add to the Voyager complement of dullness? Hey, the guy who plays Max also plays the man in black ("Esau") in Lost. Fancy that!

Podcast breakdown:

0:00 -- nuqneH
4:14 -- Breaking Bad spoilers
11:37 -- Batman stuff,
24:36 -- Some viewer mail
29:29 -- "Bride of Chaotica!"

Podcast 124: Dick Moves

Technically, these Voyager episodes are supposed to be the "good" ones, but we have a much funner time hearing about all the crazy episodes we're not watching. Andy Dick happens. Also iceberg planets, time travel (of course, duh-doy) and of course musical theory. The doctor is golden though. Especially when he's reshaping hundreds of years of history and racial harmony.

Podcast breakdown:

0:00 -- nuqneH, Agricola, Utah trip, J.R. being a wuss, Paranormal Activity, scary movies, Pacific Rim, Robot Jox, Breaking Bad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, How I Met Your Mother

Podcast 123: You Knew What I Was When You Picked Me Up!

It's hot. Also, the listeners have more to say about these episodes than we do obviously. We tackle a couple of iconic Voyager episodes that gave us Seven of Nine as well as... a year of events that apparently never happened. Goodbye Kes. We hardly knew ye! All this and a lot of lovable Superman griping. Oh and then there's Scorpio. There's always Scorpio.

Podcast breakdown:

Podcast 122: Crossed the Threshold

We discuss "the worst" episode in all of Star Trek BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT!!! Is "Threshold" the worst though? Well, that's a matter of discussion and debate. And discussed and debated are things we therefore did! Hard! Also there were three other boring episodes in there too.

Podcast breakdown:

0:00 -- nuqneH, Arrested Development, future genre possibilities, 48 Hour Film Project, How I Met Your Mother, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek Into Darkness
26:57 -- Viewer mail

You wanted it! You got it! Voyager begins! And with it, hot escalator action! This week we were also joined (Trilled, as it were) by the illustrious Justin, the master chief of the Facebook page.
